New to the site, i better say hi

Hey all
Im an Aussie in London and i just stumbled on this site today looking for some up to date info on the great Teddy Riley. What a great site, brings back some memories of my school days back in Sydney. Can even remember my first cd i ever brought - The Boys, Message from the boys ,back in the late 80's, was 14 then shopping at the old central station records.

I'm sure u are having a ball CD and record digging in London town.

Yeah, I also used to frequent Central Station here in Melbourne town, so I know how u feel.

The Boys song "Dial My Heart" and their Self Titled CD after that with "Crazy", "Thing called Love", "Funny", "Got To Be There" and "Thanx for the Funk" were all kickin !!!

central station records Melbourne, spent some time in there myself whilst i was in the navy throughout the 90's, only place i could get my imports during that time. Was in New York earlier this year. now thats the place to get your music.

More on the newer side than old, clothes shopping was a bit of a priority, Timberland boots, ecko, Sean John and rocca wear so cheap bags so full, was good having british pounds as our money went much further. plus getting dvd's before they are released in the UK was another good thing, Spend another week over there some time next year, the wife and i will make it the yearly pilgrimage for spendin

Hey, Aussie, glad you are recommending NYC as a wicked destination to go for shopping! My sister and I are planning to travel there sometime in February/March '05. I heard it will be bloody cold there at that time of the year though! So, I got my woolly hat, eskimo furry boots and thermals ready! NYC HERE WE COME!!!!!!!!

man its a place to see, you think piccadily circus with its lights is a buzz, it aint nothing compared to NYC plus forget oxford street for shopping it doesnt compare, make sure you head out to the retail factory oulets, they have daily tours everyday, plenty of ecko, fubu, timberland and urban wear at cheap prices, man you will have a great time, music and dvd's spend up big, but don't forget to see all the sites

Yeah, NYC is the place! I'm about 2 1/2 hours away from Vancouver, B.C. which has a lot of great shopping as well for people on the West Coast. But nothing compares to NYC!

High end stuuf, low end stuff...and everything in between. Head to Times Square baby!

NYC baby !!!! The Big Apple ! I guess it is the perfect model of the modern metropolis, well at least culturally and perhaps even architecturally ...ok so the latter might bring a raised eyebrow to lovers of classic European cities, but hey, I did say modern !

But yeah, I went there back in 1997 and that buzz people talk about has to be experienced by every NJS fan.

I mean the music that these here forums are based around wasn't labelled New Jack Swing for nothing....The New is short for New York as far as I'm aware, and when you hear authentic NJS, and then you go to New York, it kinda all makes sense....you understand more than ever how the surroundings contributed to *that* sound.

As much as the laid back lifestyle of California with its beaches and sunshine creates a mellow, easy, warm soul sound and also smoother Hip-Hop beats, you find in the same way that New York with all it's bright lights, billboards, and cold conditions, and cold hard walls creates that Hyper, Hard Edged sound that belongs in a concrete jungle.

Every time I listen to My Phone by Jodeci, it's like it transports me to a Times Square phone booth. Everytime I hear Groove Me I could easily be riding the subway and admiring the dope colorful graffiti. And everytime I hear those big beats and big keyboards at the start of I Want Her, I could be on the street at night watching that smoke come out of the manholes and seeing the bright lights sparkle off some of those big skyscrapers.

Oh yeah baby ....take me back to the home of the New Jack !!
