Hello !
Wow what can i say since finding this site late last night after (as many of you have) i googled my way through a New Jack Swing search and hit NJS4E. I am playing all the videos and being taken back!! The radio mixes are keeping me very very happy! Being in Australia we all had limited access to video footage of the artists (and not much money)we loved with a passion, so to see them on this site in all their glory is magnificent!

CAN I SAY THIS IS AN INCREDIBLE PIECE OF NEW JACK SWING HISTORY IN THE MAKING!! Fabulous!!

I have noticed a few Australians on the message boards already!
So cool to see an australian prescence

I am currently staying in Singapore till March next year and all my cd's are packed away in Melbourne. I was missing my old sounds and was getting all reminiscent last night about the old days!!

Those old days were the best days of my life! I'm 30yrs old now!

I can remember Billboard niteclub on Russell st and dj's like DJC in the clubs and on the radio shows late at night. I used to tape all the shows and listen to them for hours. Some of the shows used to go for hours and hours filling up my summer nights. I can remember the carousel niteclub by Albert Park lake..........damn fine place! All the performances there by local acts like KPS Jam and CDB were just awesome! Saturday nights in Melbourne were always spent at carousel. I even used to see KPS Jam at the mercury lounge, at a small club off Toorak Rd - whereva they would be I was there! I had the opportunity to meet one of the singers of KPS Jam at the Stevie wonder concert many years ago and we talked about the band. So down to earth, so talented.

I used to dress up too in the new jack suits and wear the vests underneath, baggy pants and roll neck jumpers!! I even had a cross colours t-shirt with all the bright colours ! he he he.....

We used to pretty much be groupies my friends and I.
We went to an instore appearance of Shai at Virgin Megastore which was awesome. I think CDB came and performed as well! Gees.......memories......
We got to hang out with Shai at Chasers niteclub along Chapel St, they were such cool dudes, really down to earth! Still have those photos!
I can remember hanging down at Central Station records on Flinders St many many years ago to see Wreck'n'Effect to show up and meet Boyz II Men at highpoint for them to sign a cd and they blew everyone away by singing a couple of songs.............the gals were screaming so loud i almost went deaf!

I knew so many people into it, we swapped music and literally being in Australia we still managed to hear new music from boyz ii men and bbd before they even played it in Australia. It is a shame that commerically it has only been the last 8-10 yrs that the industry in Australia has gained notice, with a lot of help from some very very devoted lovers of the music and the genre of music! I used to get Fresh & Blackbeat magazines for all the news!

Quite a few of the DJ's have organised New Jack Swing nites in melbourne playing all the old school stuff but since all my friends are older and moved onto other things in life it is hard to drag anyone along with you! I do miss it so much!
I loved the dance floor and had so many hours of pure bliss dancing to the music!

I look forward to spending quite a lot of time on this new forum and finding out all the latest goss about artists from the past and new artisits emerging and meeting some fans from Melbourne.

THE BIGGEST CRIME THOUGH IS THAT KCI AND JOJO ARE PLAYING IN MELBOURNE IN DECEMBER AND I AM NOT THERE!
I have waited so many years for them to come back to Melbourne!
I wish i knew someone in Melbourne that could take photos of them!

I hope i havent rambled on too much.............???????
The music certainly was a huge part of my life, HUGE!!

Whoaaaa !!!! Hold up, wait a minute....

I been away from the forum for a few days and I must say it was a pleasant surprise to hear the stories of anutha Melburnian who was kicking it in the NJS era....welcome 90's Gal !!!!

Yeah I too was in Billboards most Saturdays back then, wearing my long black silky shirt...untucked of course! Remember that dude Razzleman !!! hahaha

Also used to regularly visit Central (Station) to pick up that latest CD, and yes, I was there at the Wreckx gig..even got to meet Markell which was a thrill.

So yeah, I most certainly can relate to all your tales of staying up to hear the music we loved on PBS, WRB, etc to hear peeps like DJC, Mamalisa, Ken Walker and Max Hollywood.

Great to have you hear on the forum.
