I started posting all around and didn't see the introduction board until now, so let me make nice and extend greetings.

I love rocking parties, I love music of all styles that gets people grooving, from hip-hop to house to afro-cuban beats to reggae, whatever. My record collection grows so fast it's like they're having sex and making babies while I'm asleep.

I have a particular fondness for the sounds of my youth though, classic hip-hop, go-go and R&B. It's so ill to me that folks don't even acknowledge how hot the NJS era was. When I think of those records, I think FUN. Of course there's a nostalgic aspect but when I listen to them objectively, I really appreciate all the arrangements, vocals, unique style elements and even sometimes... the writing. Mostly NJS is about dancing to me. So I'm always trying to scoop up all of these records, of course while trying to keep up with all the new stuff that comes out. Anything to keep the dancefloor hot!

I grew up in Washington D.C, spent some time in N.C., Europe, upstate NY and LA and I've been living in Maryland since college. I work a lot and do music a lot, with my band and with other artists on the DC scene.

Yo Stylus !

Great to see u representin DC !

There'd be a few New Jack fans here who may not realise the influence of Washington Go-Go on the Sound of New Jack Swing.

Those big swinging, heartbeat rhythms were an essential element of Teddy's stew. And while I'm far from a Go Go expert, I did get to check out some of the great Go Go artists and songs....dude's like E.U., Chuck Brown, Trouble Funk, and songs like E.U. Freeze, Drop The Bomb, and Bustin Loose (Hi to Nelly and the Neptunes  ).

For all the New Jackers who don't know what Go-Go is, try to imagine New Jack Style rhythms in a Live Band context with plenty of percussion and big yet soulful synth sounds.

Slammin !!!
