What's up everybody?
My name is Thanh and I'm straight outta Vegas. I joined this forum about a month ago and I have been very impressed ever since this website started.
As you can tell from my nickname, I believe that Video Soul is the best music video show of all time. I'm a man whose very frustrated with the world of music today (all the stuff you hear on the radio). My music collection ranges from the 1970s to some of the non-wack hip hop of today (UGK, Common, Talib Kweli, Kanye West). I definitely love the New Jack Swing sound because the music had a lot of energy and it was made for people to have fun. My favorite artists are Stevie Wonder, Guy, Bob Marley, Minnie Riperton, Mary J. Blige, TLC, Phyllis Hyman, and Marvin Gaye, just to name a few.
Even though I'm a little too early on this, I want to send shoutouts to the whole NJS4E family and its forum's members for keeping great urban music alive.
Peace out!

Hey Videosoulfan how would you rate TLC and Mary J. Blige's recent releases against those of Phyllis Hyman and Minnie Riperton? Do you think you will still be listening to all of those artists you mentioned in 10 years?
Do you ever hear of and/or like Angela Bofill who is in a similar vein of Phyllis Hyman?
Welcome aboard!!

Hey eddie, thanks for the welcome. As far as TLC's and Mary J. Blige recent releases are concerned, that's a good question. I'll admit that some of their recent releases are not classics in any way, but they're still worth checking out. I think people will still have What's the 411?, CrazySexyCool, Ooooohhh... On the TLC Tip,and My Life in their music collection.
Me ever heard of Angela Bofill? Of course I have and I definitely love her music. Phyllis, Minnie, and Angela (people should have almost all of their albums in their collection) have some of the most incredible voices in R&B music and they sadly get very little recognition, in my opinion.
Most of the artists I have listed as my favorites is stuff that I have heard ever since birth. IMO, their music will never get old for me. In fact, I much rather prefer to listen to all of the stuff I've mentioned than all of today's stuff on the radio. Let's keep it real.... no one's gonna remember or even have the audacity to listen to Soulja Boy or MIMS in 10 years (I wish they never came out).

Hey VideoSoulFan,
I feel the passion in your writing. The 'Urban' music today seems to have taken a turn for the worst, barring some of the artists that you mentioned and a few others. Video Soul was a great show. Loving your list too. Interesting choice with Caron Wheeler but, I agree that song was a beauty.
