Hey snoope23

I represent Cameroon (Central Africa). I have always said that New jack swing was hot in Africa. Hey Knyte and Jode, next time you interview our favourite new jack artists and producers, please let them know that we love them in Africa, and it could be great if they could stop by one day. :D Its about a kind of world music

Its good to know that Ghana and Cameroon is represented on here. NJS is a worldwide thing and definately not specific to one place. But, I guess that is music in general, as it crosses all social & economic barriers

The next party will be in June or July but, there is another party on May 5th and that should be cool. NJS4E is not hosting it but, they certainly have our blessing. :D Next time hopefully we get to meet.
NJS4E came third in our category at the VH1 Hip Hop Honours Awards. What an amazing achievement.

its true new jack swing was and is big in Africa (anyway home is Zimbabwe.....lived in UK for over ten years and now residing in Toronto). The first time I heard Do me right by Guy I was in Zimbabwe and when I moved to UK they were not even playing that, six months later I heard the song on the radio and dj was saying "brand new from GUY" me i was like duh.

NEW JACK SWING 4 EVER! Happy days are here again!

This is very interesting! I never realised that New Jack Swing would've been so big in Africa. Why would you think that is? And how could it be that they were playing these tracks even before they were played in Europe?
OH YEAH, IT FEELS SO GOOD TO BE BACK WHERE WE BELONG

the reason is that they take Africa for granted. Check this when Boyz II Men came to UK for the first time, I heard them on Choice FM96.9 and dj was George Kay he asked them Boyz II Men if they were going to tour Africa, I have never heard a laugh like that, that was a dis laugh and since them I dont play their music in clubs, I can do without motownphilly and the rest of their new jack swing cuts. I have a lot of beats to survive the gig. People called in to complain and thanx to George Kay he tried to cover them and the damage was already done, since then never liked that boy(george kay).

Well years later these retarded musicians were buzy touring Africa. They must understand that one third of their sales come Africa. I brought a vinyl from Zimbabwe after hearing that I did put that in the bin, nor more for me Boyz II Men. Check with George kay year 1991 on Choice FM if he still remembers that.

Music in africa is big. Timberland back in early 90s he was sampling african beats and even up to now a lot of people dont know that. Listen to a genre called Kwaito especially the early 90s. I am laughing and then listen to a group called Midnite Magic from Zimbabwe they called their music barbed wire, you will laugh this was before new jack swing. Home work. Long live New JaCK sWING.

I think the reason is contacts (direct with A&R) not with the marketing department. In UK they get their music same time as the record shops like HMV, Tower records you will see a cd with a sticker "import", this is where I laugh. Go to a club in Ghana Kenya South Africa Zimbabwe, just hear the musc, you will go back to europe and cry. When I rinse them dubplate in clubs people always ask me where do I get my music I always say back home, rare recordings that HMV and Tower records discontinued. I was looking for the new jack swing mastercuts volumes couldnt find them here in north america, UK even on ebay but when I went Zimbabwe (home) 2004 i bought the whole set 123 and 4, this is tragic, yu feel me. this summer I will be rinsing new jack swing here in clubs in america.

respect to this thread. MO FORE MORE NEW JACK SWING yauzo yauzo yauzo!

Further more there were so many Africans settled in the US who sent music home. It was big business to open recording studios and charge high prices to record on cassettes. Man, did they make so much TAX free money. Because everyday through out the entire US, LPs just kept flooding the market and boy did I spend my money on Tapes,(they sold cassettes to so you paid double if you didn
