I hail from Antioch, Cali and have an interest in music. I usually like hip-hop/rap with good beats, and I recently got into New Jack Swing because of GTA: San Andreas. Man, I liked it from the start because of the great beats, so I decided that I'd get some of my own. Sure, I used to like Rump Shaker when I was 4 or 5, but missed out on this genre because I guess it was fading when I was old enough to remember stuff and think. I never really listened to the radio much, either. Basically I'd listen to what my brother was listening to.
New Jack artists who have songs I like are cool are Guy, Keith Sweat, Aaron Hall, Basic Black, Johnny Gill, Timmy Gatling, Ralph T, BBD, Samuelle, Today, Wrecks-N-Effect, and others.

Welcome to NJS4E Steve
That GTA soundtrack is certainly a good way to start your NJS collection, if you check ebay or any other auction site you'll find several compilation albums worth picking up. Mainly they have the better known tracks but when your starting a collection you need all those. Best ones to look out for if you haven't already got them are the Mastercuts comps. there were four of these and they had some very good mixes on them.

VOLUME TWO

Big welcome Steve, enjoy your stay.
I'm not really into Gamecomputers and playing games, so I gotta ask, does one hear the tracks while playing? Cos if that's the case, I'm gonna get myself a PS2 just for this

KC, one of the things you do in GTA is steal cars, you need them to get about the city to complete your mission. While in the car you can tune the radio to different stations, all of which play varying types of music. Very cool really
I did a review on Soul2street about the old skool rap album you can get. Here's the link to it;

Gamer or not! Y'all outta get both the GTA San Andreas as well as GTA Vice City soundtracks. Honestly, trackwise they're some of the best 90s and 80s compilations available covering just about every style being popular during those decades.
Oh and btw - welcome to NJS4E Steve

This seems like just the right forum for me. I like the music covered in this forum and I can talk about it without people criticizing my taste.

No, it's just that much of the forums have very general topics like hip-hop, but not much R&B and New Jack, etc. More modern stuff in general. Nevertheless, I'm here.
And I don't think they were truly criticizing it. They probably just made a judgment without really checking out my stuff because it didn't match their "smug standards."
