guys
echobanzai over here. HUGE HUGE HUGE new jack swing fan. grew up listening to new edition, then on to teddy riley!
i was hitting the record stores, every few days, in new york in the late 80's -90's buying every single 12 inch remix or any remix i could get my hand on. i have about 75% of teddy riley's music. sure, that might not be a lot to some of the dj's out there. but, it is a solid collection.
ive seen new edition in concert a dozen or more times. probably 20. teddy riley and guy in concert, like 7-10 times.
i will try and bring to the board, the ultra rare stuff i have found over the years. i was searching out tough to find remixes in 1990 guys. impossible to find then!
i have a bunch of rare r&b cd's from that era as well, and i will try and post reviews of the cd's, that maybe you guys missed.
amazing site, even though i just discovered it.
new jack swings on forever.

Hey echobanzai,
I'm already excited that you joined us, it seems that you will add some extra knowledge and elan to this forum. Your enthousiasm in your first post here is very promising and I hope you will keep that spirit while posting.
I wish I had about 75% of the TR productions! Man I don't even think I own about 50%, at least when we're talking about the 12"es and stuff...
Good to have you on board!
Peace, Freez'

about my collection.
first up, i was lucky enough to be in new york city, right when new jack swing hit.
new edition IS my favorite group of all time, so i grew up in the 80's listening to R&B. when i first heard SPEND THE NIGHT, it took me a minute to get it. then, i went from what is this? to AMAZEMENT. and because it took me a minute to understand it, it made the expirience even more surreal.
so, i would go to the 12 inch record store. this was used, primarily for DJ's at the time. i would buy 3 - 5 records a week. if teddy riley produced it, i got it. they all thought i was crazy, as only dj's shopped this joint, for the records i used to buy.
i am an artist/graphic designer/illustrator. and new jack swing heavilly influences my art, even to this day. so, i was always buying music. and i always loved remixes, so i started to collect them.
i found this japanese website, with all of teddy riley's music listed. well, it looked like a solid list. it had lots of weird stuff on there, and tons of stuff i had, that i knew was tough to find. so, i knew at least, this guy did some of his homework.
whatever music i did not have from that list, i wanted. so i surfed the net, and snagged, all cd remixes and stuff i could find.
so according to that checklist, i have, for sure, over 75% of teddy riley's music. maybe as much as 85-90%.
do you guys have the teddy riley produced Tom Jones songs? that is how dedicated i am!!! but that is easy to find. tom jones is a huge vegas star.
and, i read teddy was producing jones, in billboard back then. everyone was like, why you buying tom jones. no one got it, except me!
thanks to that website, i was lucky enough, to find MEN OF VIZION, at a used CD store, in los angeles, for get this, 6 bucks!!! if not for that checklist, i would have never known tr worked on that cd.
i am missing some amazing stuff though. i never got the cd remix, of teddy's jam 2. damn, that sounds good. i never even heard a remix of teddy's jam 2. and, until i saw an auction of it, on ebay, i never knew it existed. i emailed the winner, cause i lost out, but they never got back to me.
i also only have the cassete remix of the ballad from THE FUTURE. but again, on ebay, there was a cd remix released, with 6 versions of that song. i only have 3, and on cassette to make it work. the 12 inch record i have that song, does not have a good remix on there.
i went to find that teddy riley checklist tonight, to see if it was updated, AFTER discovering this forum. the checklist seems to be gone. does anyone know if they moved it, or if it is gone for good.
i never even saved the page as a text file. foolish me. that text file alone would be great for this forum.

I assume you mean Keisuke's site:
http://www2.gol.com/users/yepyep/
It doesn't have everything Teddy has done, but it does a good job of covering most of it. Knyte has it linked on the NJS4E links page, and Keisuke is a member here too.
You may also want to do some searches through the forum, there is a lot of priceless Teddy Riley info on here, in the most obscure places.

Are you talking about Lets Chill? I think the tape had 3 remixes on there.
I agree with you and Stevie about people saying that you are crazy buying that stuff.
...and as Mr Bootknockalizer has mentioned, there is a fountain of knowledge on that man alone......besides heaps of other stuff. It will be interesting to see what knowledge you have on the subject matter. Keep enjoying the forum though! In my words....'Its a little addictive'
