I cannot convey the joy, excitement, and memories discovering this site has rekindled for me. I always said my high-school years were the best years of my life (1988-1991), and certainly this music genre has so defined those years. I have always loved NJS music and found myself turning up the volume in my car stereo anytime I was lucky enough to hear a NJS song. And actually, most of my downloaded music is NJS. But I didn't realize that there is a formal "genre classification" for this music, and there are other people out there like myself who enjoy it as much as I do. In addition, I agree so much with other people who posted their thoughts reagrding the influence NJS has on current music. I often hear new hip hop with samples (either beats or lyrics) from NJS era. This really amuses me. By the way, thanks for putting Samuelle's "SO LIKE WHAT SEE?" to the HALL OF FAME. That song happens to be in my personal top 3 NJS favorites; a song which is only known by true NJS die-hards! BY the way, I am trying to recall a song from the summer of 91' and wondering if anyone can help me out. I only so a few of the lyrics. I t was sort of rap/reaggae feel to it. The chorus went: "LET'S GET WITH IT." Any takers? Keep up the great work NJS4ever!
VERY VERY COOL!!!
I'm glad you enjoyed what you found at this site. If you know anyone else who might be into what they find here, please send them over. The more the merrier, you know? And as far as your song goes...I'm horrible with lyrics. I know most people remember songs by lyrics, but I remember them by texture/descriptions of the music itself, which I know is much harder to convey. But if you find a way to do that, I might be able to help you out. But posters like newjackguru might be great too if you send them a private message.
Anyhow, I'm *glad* you dug this site...this community is only going to be what we make it, so I'm just hoping we get like, at least 100 strong by the end of February...And then keep growing...
