Welcome to Njs4ever: The Online Community

Thanks...
to RichNice, Futureboy, and newjackguru for the very nice words.
And to Futureboy: hearing that this site helped you find a long lost song is definitely one of the biggest reasons why Njs4ever was built in the first place! Thanks for sharing that. I consider <b>Pretty In Pink</b> in the "did they really exist or am I just imagining things?" category, along with <b>Good2Go</b>, which was mentioned somewhere else on this site. I think they'll be added to the Hall of Fame soon, as New Jack producer <b>Howie Tee</b> (<b>Chubb Rock, Color Me Badd</b>) was behind them. I think they were even on Motown come to think of it!
Anyhow, thank you all for joining up so far!

Hey all !!!
I just joined. Great site!!!
I am giving myself a 30th b-day party. My theme is NJS. I grew up during this era and LOVED IT!!!! I want to find ideas, so that when my guest walk in, they know immediately what era this party is associated with.
So if anyone has any ideas, please share.
Know time to read the rest of the board

Hmm....
Hello dee:
I'm thinking that the music -- more than anything -- will set the tone. For example, if your guests walk in, and a song like <b>Guy's</b> "You Can Call Me Crazy," <b>Al B. Sure's</b> "Rescue Me," or "New Jack Swing" by <b>Wrecks 'N' Effect</b> is on full blast, that might seem a little peculiar. Or if you answered the door in a pair of overalls and polka dot shirt or something. If you have any posters from the era, I think that would help too...and maybe you could even have NJS-Era videos going -- or movies like <i>House Party</i> or <i>New Jack City</i> going, with the sound turned down...
I would also consider <b>Janet Jackson's</b> "Alright" (w/<b>Heavy D</b> if you can find it) a must-play record if you're getting a DJ...
Just my thoughts. But again, I'd say the music is probably your most effective tool in creating an NJS ambiance.
Hopefully some others on the board will chip in with their ideas too!
THANK U for joining!

Wow, over a year ago and we didn't make this a sticky? I guess we should. We have some great posts in this thread and even though only a few members have posted regularly after that (Zeyl10, Futureboy, newjackguru, 97sbrown2 and of course our own Knyte), this really is a historical thread!
OH YEAH, IT FEELS SO GOOD TO BE BACK WHERE WE BELONG
I've got my old hobby back!

This is cool! I really like this.
NJS4E came third in our category at the VH1 Hip Hop Honours Awards. What an amazing achievement.

Yeah, this site really has accomplished a lot, hasn't it? This has become the standard for everyone who's fans of a whole genre of music! I mean...if I was responsible for creating that, I'd die a happy man! Bigger thrill yet...knowing that artists that I admired and were responsible for some of my greatest memories have probably been on this site more than not! I mean, if I knew Johnny Gill read this...DAMN!!!!!!
You know, I was SICK when you had your 1st party in the UK. I wanted to go SO BADLY and meet everybody (steveswing, jodecidal, K-bee, mello...she's my girl!). I hope that I can still make that happen!

Top 5 NJS-era albums: 1. GUY by Guy. 2. MAKE IT LAST FOREVER by Keith Sweat. 3. JOHNNY GILL by Johnny Gill. 4. FOREVER MY LADY by Jodeci. 5. IT'S A BIG DADDY THING by Big Daddy Kane.

It'll happen one day, I'm very positive about that!Futureboy wrote: You know, I was SICK when you had your 1st party in the UK. I wanted to go SO BADLY and meet everybody (steveswing, jodecidal, K-bee, mello...she's my girl!). I hope that I can still make that happen!
Yeah, NJS4E has really accomplished quite a bit. I heard that we have a few hundred thousand unique hits per month! And the forum activity is really good too IMO. Oh yeah, I'd like some more activity here, but it's good the way it is and the most important thing is: it's very informative and respectful.
I am so proud to be a part of this!
