The era of Crossover / Rhythmic Radio is born...

A large portion generation of these listeners, now known as the MTV Generation or Generation X (born between approx 1965 and 1981), spent their formative years listening to this decidedly “crossover” mix of Top 40 music between the years 1987 through 1993.

While some of them splintered off into the grunge and alternative genres by the mid-90s, almost all of them even now still retain fond memories of some of the more popular songs from this era such as “Poison” by Bell Biv Devoe, “RumpShaker” by Wrecks N Effect, or “U Can’t Touch This” by MC Hammer.
